Len Bosack and Sandy Lerner, a married couple and also computer professionals out of Stanford University created Cisco systems which made the first successful router to support multiple network protocols. The name "Cisco" is derived from San Fransisco, where the company first started out. Appropriately, the logo is a representation of the Golden gate bridge in San Fransisco. The Golden Gate is also known as the "gate to the Pacific" in hope that Cisco Company can be eternally successful and stand as long as this bridge has.
